I was inspired by the atmosphere in the background with the dark trees against it and the light coming down the rocks. I was up at dawn this morning to paint a scene that I had seen before early in the morning. Below is my first painting of the day, a 12″x16″ oil.

I had been thinking about this scene, but it wasn’t as great as I thought it would be. Back to the easel tomorrow. The trunks were a very warm color, but I think I overdid it, I’ll have to tone some of it down.

Toward the end of the 6″x6″ painting, the wind was picking up and smoke was moving into the valley. I guess it is a fire close to Mariposa. Anyway, it caused a little more atmosphere and warmth in the colors.

Today I went back to Oakhurst to do some computer work and get my RSS feed straightened out once and for all. I made up a new   email, but didn’t delete the old one. Now, I think it is done and good. Hoping…. I also needed to come to town to buy a new car charger for my dead phone. My mom is probably calling now.

I’ve had an interesting camping experience. The last two nights I have camped in Camp 4 in Yosemite. It is a walk-in camp that has shared sites, a first for me. And, most of the campers are young and rock climbers. It’s a little noisier than others I’ve been in, but I’m into bed early, up early and gone all day. I figured it didn’t matter that much, besides it was the only way I could stay longer without reservations. Tomorrow is the last night, Then on to another place. ???

The RSS Feed has been fixed. Now, the blog! The read more links don’t work. I have gone through trying to figure out what is wrong to no avail. I have a message into my computer guy to look into it. So sorry about this mishap.

Today I drove into town and am working on the internet. Too many things piling up that need to be addressed. Also, a lack of electric when camping is difficult when working on the computer. Hmmm…. imagine that, you need electric. I think I will be buying a battery charger to take with me. That could make life easier. I will be staying her in Yosemite for a bit more painting.

There are way too many things to paint and I may not make it to Oregon if I don’t give it up and move on.

Computer issues have been my greatest frustration, camping is the easy part!

Talk to you all tomorrow. Oh, and the batteries on my camera are out. Now to recharge them on the drive back to the park.

Each morning I’ve driven by the river and finally stopped this morning, a very quiet place. I never saw a soul. I liked those bits of bright green with the sunlight hitting the bushes. This painting was hard not to get “everything” in it. Yesterday’s painting had a bug in it, today’s, I notice a little dirt up on the right. Oh well, as soon as it dries, it will brush off. Always better to leave it for later than to try and clean it up while it is wet.

My daughter and grandkids left to go back home this morning. Two of them have their birthdays next week, so a special day for them. The little one wanted to make sure she was home for her birthday. The oldest will be 15 this year, wow unbelievable. I think he would have liked to have stayed longer. But, varsity football practice makes a short vacation.

I got a little more painting done today. I painted this wonderful old tree on an 11″x14″ panel.

OMG, the internet connection is PAINFULLY slow here. It’s so hard to keep at it and not open multiple windows. But, beautiful weather again. I found a camp spot here for two more nights, so that’s it, I’ll be moving on in 3 days. Not sure where yet! Tomorrow, I will probably stick closer to camp. I need to get a couple of studio paintings done this week, sooner than later. This will be interesting to see how much work I can get done while on the road. If it works out well, what a great office job. Love it!

I heard from several people about a missing image on yesterday’s post. WiFi has been a problem with sloooow speed and limited time. I thought I had uploaded my photo, but found that it wasn’t there. I think it is due to the fact that I have higher speed at home and thought it had uploaded, but hadn’t. With my daughter and her family being here, I have been trying to limit my computer time. It is difficult to do it all, certainly not a good way to start.

Anyway, what drew me to this scene was the contrast of the dark pines against the light of the background, but also the colors of the water. So much fun to paint. We had lunch and hiked around Tenaya Lake. I stopped to paint where the water goes out of the lake into a small stream.

Yesterday hiking and resting and panting and worn out. I got a later start this morning. Hopefully, I will get that afternoon painting done today.

The meadow grasses were a variety of colors, blue green, bright yellow green and warm red in it. There was a little light coming through the bottom of the trees through the shadows. Again, I had lots of tourists to talk to today. It is a busy park here. As soon as I finished the painting, I was off with the computer to post the painting. Midday I’ll be exploring or hiking with my daughter and grandkids.
